As a fine art photographer I would describe myself as a passionate perfectionist of creative ideas. While developing my skills, I was fortunate to experience many opportunities ranging from years of film and digital action photography. Currently I work as magazine contributing photographer for Harris Publications out of New York. 1582 Fine Art Photography is a blend of the Wet Plate Collodion Photography with Stained Glass and other mix medians. The wet plate collodion process was first invented by Frederick Scott Archer in 1851. It’s an intricate process completed with the use of a darkroom. It requires the photographic material (in my case, glass or aluminum) to be coated with Collodion and then sensitized in Silver Nitrate. Exposing the photo then developed and fixed. All this needs to be completed within about a 10 to 15 minute period. Hence, the plate must remain wet throughout the entire process to ensure that the photo is not destroyed. Each process has to be done in a timely fashion to ensure a proper photograph. This includes ensuring the state of the chemicals being used remain pure and stable. It is truly an art of chemistry and photography wrapped into one. Each photo that is taken using the wet plate collodion process has a life of it’s own. It’s an organic one of a kind exposure of the world that surrounds me. Unlike digital photography of today, each photo created with this process take with it the energy of life that was captured at the moment it was exposed. And to me, this is what makes this process so special and my personal desire to share with all. Capturing the moments that reflect into the future forever.
