As a landscape photographer in pursuit of developing an affinity with the great outdoors - I aim to capture engaging images to evoke moods and/or memories. Based in Cornwall, much of my work depicts the Cornish coast in it's different guises - often beautifully tranquil, but violent on occasions. I also enjoy venturing into the county's lush woods and rugged moors. Early mornings are my favourite time of day - when locations are peaceful and devoid of people. Sometimes, being on location in the early morning or late evenings I'm rewarded with warm sunlight to saturate the scene with colour and soft, long shadows to define shapes. On regular trips to visit family in Wales, I find myself in awe of the Brecon Beacons as I endeavour to capture the grandeur of the national park's landscapes. I began my career with a qualification in graphic design. After a few years as trainee through to assistant project roof truss designer, my employer created a brand new marketing department where I'd begin a 13 year stretch in graphic design and marketing while I also dabbled in freelance graphics. I now work in a builders' merchant - which allows me to focus all my creativity on my photography. In 2012, I bought my first "proper camera" - a used Lumix G1 Micro Four Thirds. It's sole purpose was for photographing my printed designs for my freelance design website. Before long, a keen hobbyist photographer friend suggested we took our cameras out to photograph the Cornish fishing village of Mevagissey. From then, I was hooked!
