"We had been out photographing landscapes and wildlife on a misty morning at a local country park. Once the mist started to lift, we headed home via a narrow country lane. As we approached the field, I saw this horse looking out over the gate, so I took the opportunity to photograph it. It was obviously very used to people as it stayed near the gate for me to take the photo.

As there was nowhere to park, the car was blocking the road and the mist was clearing, so the photo was taken rather hurriedly!

I always shoot in RAW, so I did the basic corrections, and then enhanced the colour and the mist in Photoshop Elements.

I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time."
