I am an artist, illustrator and photographer from Edinburgh, Scotland. ​ I feel that visually there is just so much to wonder at in day to day life, often in things we might tend to look through or past a lot of the time. I see patterns and composition everywhere and just love when shape, colour and form present themselves so as to complement each other perfectly. Over the years I’ve received some odd looks as I start snapping away at the washing up at the sink, at the puddle in a gutter or spend a couple of quality hours zooming in on a cabbage. ​ I often find things to photograph when I least expect. The magnificence of the natural world amazes me every day, the way the light affects a landscape, or the patterns and colours within a leaf or flower. The world is a beautiful place if you just spend the time to look. I have a few obsessions! Reflections possibly being the biggest one. Whether it be reflections in the glass of a building, the bonnet of a car, or in a puddle on the ground, I am hooked, I can rarely resist a good reflection. Reflections can confuse reality and there is something I quite like about this. There is a fascination with droplets and bubbles too, I don't really know quite what it is, I just find them so satisfying. Shadows too, I am often tempted by a fascinating shadow. I think this is partly because there is an element of something being there but not there, there is evidence of something being present without the emphasis actually being on the subject itself, also shadows can create fantastic patterns. ​ Sunny winter days are a favourite of mine for photography, the low sunlight of winter can render a landscape almost ethereal on some days, and winter shadows can just be fabulous. Winter sun makes for big shadows and a delicious quality of colour. Basically I just love taking pictures - every day - for the sake of taking pictures.
