Chris Jenkinson

I have always been interested in Photography and was given my first Kodak Instamatic 100 when I was 9 years old. My father was also a keen amateur photographer, however the majority of his shots were recorded in black and white because at that time the best colour images were mainly taken on slide film which was an expensive process. We spent many happy hours together developing and printing black and white images in his dark room, which in truth was really a converted cupboard, but the development and processing of film seemed to make the end result much more rewarding. Watching an image appear in the developing trays was always like magic and still today I still favour monochrome. In such a short time the creative possibilities of digital media have certainly changed the art of Photography and although some may not agree it has also enhanced the enjoyment of the art form. I live my life through images rather than word and enjoy trying to capture moments in time that are and will be my memories in the future. Every day brings new opportunities and whether I am in the garden, enjoying the beauty of Britain or travelling around the world I always have a camera with me. Being part of Photocrowd has given my photography a new purpose.
