Chris Vlachos

I was born in June 1961 and I started photographing in 1985. My main engagement is Nature photography and I specialize in bird photography. I have photographed the 406 out of the 450 species of birds that have been recorded in our country, most of them photographed in Greece. I have collaborated with the Greek publication of National Geographic, presenting articles and photos from the Greek bird species, as well as with almost all press journals, publishing in their subject issues related to Nature and the birds of Greece. I have participated in many book editions on the same subject. Issued by the Hellenic Ornithological Society, the monograph of the Falco eleonorae (Falco eleonorae) has been published exclusively with my photographs and the ecological guide Birding in Greece, entirely with my writings and photographs. Also, I have taken photos and I have authored the ecotourist section of the country’s official IBA book. My aim is to photograph the remaining unphotographed species in Greece or abroad and to publish a complete book with all the birds of Greece. I have been a member of the Hellenic Ornithological Society since the mid-1980s and I am the curator of the "Oionos" magazine, published by the company. I work professionally as a tour guide for those who want to observe and / or photograph nature and especially birds. I am a shareholder in Birding in Greece that has the same matter of interest.
