I photograph a range of subjects and always looking to try new skills or photographing things in new ways to give them a different look. While I take inspiration from other photographers, I try to create a style that is my own. When I am out I try to focus on what I think will make an interesting and unusual photo first, rather than taking photos that could make money. For me, the enjoyment has to come first. I have to enjoy what I'm taking a photo of and I try to make that come across in my photos. I feel this is vital to continue to enjoy it. Now, having switched to digital over the last 4-5 years I've developed an understanding of the digital darkroom process and use these skills to improve or alter my photos. Often with some unusual results. I also take some of my images purely for what I can later do with them in photo editing software. Myself I have grown up and still live in Somerset, South West England. The surrounding landscape I have always found to be stunning, from the hills of the Quantocks and the Mendips, to the rocky beach of Kilve, to the 'sandy' expanse of Brean and Berrow and of course to the iconic landmark of Glastonbury Tor and its surrounding levels and moors. These landscapes have helped shape my style as a photographer. No matter where my photography takes me, I always find myself drawn back to taking photos of my local area in new ways.
