David Brownell

I have been a professional photographer since the mid 1970's, shooting mostly sports & recreation, primarily skiing, sailing, and windsurfing. I have had over two hundred covers on magazines such as: YANKEE, OUTSIDE, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC WORLD, TIME for KIDS, SPORTS AFIELD, SKI, SKIING, POWDER, SNOW COUNTRY, SAIL, CRUISING WORLD, WALKING, TRAVEL HOLIDAY, and COUNTRY MAGAZINE. I was a contributing editor to OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHER magazine, have conducted many photo seminars, and have had a number of television appearances. I lectured for the CANON CAMERA / OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHER seminar series in six U.S. cities. I was the host of the photography segments of the PBS television show, "The Great Outdoors," and was also the subject of a nationally televised "PM/Evening Magazine" show on the life of a sports photographer. I was awarded "Cover of the Month" for one of my SKI Magazine covers by MAGAZINE AND BOOKSELLER, and one of my photos was chosen for the ASMP Archive Collection at the International Museum of Photography, in Rochester, NY. I was also selected by The Photographer's Almanac as the featured professional in outdoor / action photography. In addition to extensive travel in North America, my work has taken me to Europe, Africa, Peru, New Zealand, Mexico, and the Caribbean. My past clients have included HERITAGE kayaks, PATAGONIA clothing, CANNONDALE bicycles, ROCKPORT shoes, MAD RIVER CANOE, EPSON printers, IBM, POWERBAR, ORVIS, L.L. BEAN, US AIR, THULE car racks, EASTMAN KODAK, NIKON, and CANON cameras.
