Emma Turner

I have always had a keen interest in photography. Ever since I was young I have experimented with cameras in many different forms; from the day that I captured my first image to more recently experimenting with new and exciting tools and techniques. What motivates me about photography is the many aspects which come together to make a photo great; personally it’s seeing these characteristics in peoples work and attempting to adapt and develop the necessary skills which makes the art of photography such a pleasure. My photography career began at Stamford College where I studied a two year National Diploma in Art and Design at level 3. My first year at college saw me using a darkroom and studio for the very first time; Other techniques which stand out to me most are learning to create my own digital and film joiners (a skill which I have further developed in my first year at University) and also learning how to create photograms to a high standard. After college I enrolled on a photography course at Northampton University.I particularly enjoy working on location. Earlier in the year I visited sheltered accommodation as part of an assignment in which I aimed to express the wealth which can be found in simple living; a wealth which is often overlooked in a world where consumerism is becoming an ever growing priority. As well as this I have also visited natural landscapes where I have been able to expand my portfolio.
