Sophie Gamand

Pet photographer

Sophie Gamand is a French award-winning fine-art photographer whose work has been focusing on dogs since 2010. By photographing dogs, she hopes to better understand humans. Based in New York, Sophie is an animal activist who has helped countless animal shelters and rescue groups. A former chief-editor of a contemporary photography magazine, Sophie has been a jury of various photography competitions as well as a guest speaker at multiple photography events and schools.

Her photography has gained international recognition in 2014 with her "Wet Dog" series (winner of Sony World Photography Awards, and a book is scheduled for Fall 2015 with Grand Central Publishing) and her "Flower Power" series dedicated to pit bulls. She is represented by 28 Matignon gallery in Paris.

Photographing dogs has made me more compassionate towards people.
