As an avid windsurfer, surfer and mountain biker of over 35 years, I find the distinct lack of understanding of these and other extreme sports within the "photocrowd" worrying and upsetting. I feel extremely sad for the photographers on here that truly understand these sports and capture truly unique, dynamic and interesting images of them, being beaten in these competitions by truly awful images that capture the most undynamic and mundane moments that participants of these sports would swipe past without a second thought. It's not just the correct exposure and a good sunset background that makes a great sports image, the context and skill of the rider are equally if not more important.
