My name is John Chambers. Photography has been a passion of mine since high school. I had a great graphic arts teacher who encouraged me to pursue my love for it and I haven’t looked back since. I have an interest in all photography genres, specifically wildlife and landscapes. I also do portraiture, weddings and sports photography. I started on a 35mm TTL Zenit camera ( made in Russia ) that i still have today. Learning how to process my own B&W photos in high school I took the next step to have my own darkroom at home. Now here we are in the digital age, my darkroom gear is long gone, my 35mm film cameras on the shelf, my passion for making images has not declined in any way in fact it has grown. Born in Ottawa and now residing in Merrickville, Ontario I have been fortunate to have crossed paths with a few well respected pro photographers over the years who have tutored, critiqued and helped me along the way. To them I thank you. In 2010 John won Wildlife Photo Of the Year - Bird Catagory- by Canadian Geographic Magazine and his winning image on display at the Museum of Nature in Ottawa and went on a cross Canada tour. His image was published in several editions of Canadian Geographic including a Special Edition -Best of Wildlife 2012. A few other of John's images have also been published in regular monthly editions of Canadian Geographic, Ottawa Style Magazine, Photo Solutions, Bounder Magazine, Ottawa Citizen and a few other local newsprints. Again in 2012 one of John's images was chosen winner of a major photo contest. The Arctic Wolf Portrait at the top of this page was Grand Prize Winner in Photo Life Magazine's "The World We Live In" contest and to John's surprise the image was also featured on the cover of the April/May edition of Photo Life magazine.
