Joy Smith

I took early retirement from my job as Head of Creative Studies at a tertiary college. I've loved photography since being allowed to borrow my Dad's camera while going on a school trip aged 11 - we were so lucky to go on a cruise which included Leningrad, where I had my 12th birthday. I still have the 35mm slides I took on that trip! My favourite images are wildlife, emotive landscapes, night time cityscapes, architecture, portraits and cultural images, and I also love to photograph our dogs - we now have two Cockapoo pups, having lost our 2 Springer Spaniel rescue dogs in the past year. I use a Canon EOS 7D and a range of lenses. I enjoy converting some photos to black and white - it can really enhance the right image. I love being on Photocrowd - seeing fantastic images from others, learning all the time and getting a chance to see what other photographers think of my images.
