I am a mom, educator, hiker, photographer, writer and now a widow. I knew that in order to try and mend my broken heart, I needed to see the most beautiful places in the world to fall in love again, this time with my new life. I did just that; in an effort to pay homage to our 27 years together, I went to 27 National parks in 4 countries. These are all pictures from my journey. Hopefully they will bring others hope and encouragement. Through it all, I’ve learned that life is “wabi-sabi”-which means that nothing is perfect, permanent or complete. Based on notion of “wabi-sabi, I found that when life breaks you, if you fill the cracks with proverbial “gold” (goodness and beauty), though you will never be the same, you’ll be stronger and more beautiful for having been broken.
