I'm an analogue photographer enjoying the digital age. I started photography in the 60's and have worked with plates, film and a range of digital cameras, I've never stopped. I think of myself as a documentary photographer and aspire to the standards of the great B&W photographers - Brandt, Toney Ray-Jones, Dorothea Lang, Lee Miller, Don McCullin. What a standard they set and what a window they give into life. I'll never compare with them but its good to try! Photocrowd is pushing my work and approach to photography. I feel a bit out of step, however, responding to colour contests focused on puppies or holiday scenes is making me look in different ways. Add to this the need to understand how 'the crowd' will view the work and it is an interesting, stimulating and often educational mix!
