I’m Sita, an Iranian American freelance photographer, author, and translator with a deep passion for representing the experiences of women in contemporary Islamic Iranian society. My journey began in Tehran, Iran, where I was born and raised before I moved on to divide my time between Vienna, Austria, and Boston, USA. As a self-taught photographer, I explore the relationship between women and the religious and cultural value systems in Islamic countries, with a focus on themes of gender, identity, and society. My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and a Master's degree in Marketing. However, it's my love for photography that has always been my true calling, and through my lens, I strive to capture the complexities of Iranian women's relationship with the world around them in a sensitive and authentic way. Apart from photography, I'm also an accomplished translator, particularly from English to Persian. My fifth book, titled "How to be an Artist," was recently published in Tehran.Through my books, I hope to inspire and empower individuals to pursue their passions, no matter their background or circumstances.
