A good photo should be some kind of a message, it is a medium with which the photographer wants to convey something to the viewer. In my opinion, a photo should impress a viewer on its own, not just through extreme processing with software, it should keep a natural look. That's why I don't like pictures that only want to score with oversaturation, very high contrast or artificial filters. It works much like a package. The most beautiful packaging immediately becomes uninteresting if the content is worthless. You want to make a good photo? Take a strong story, wrap it into lots of interesting pixels and send it. If the receiver can see the story in or behind your photo, you both have won.
