A simple but very pleasing shot. I like the relatively cool tones and the contrast afforded between the subject matter and the wall beyond - let alone the wooden table top up against that same wall. I like my beer, and I am no stranger to this particular brew. As I say, simple but effective - my thanks for your entry.
There were plenty of shots entered of glasses containing an ale of some kind. This is one of my favourites. I love the black and white processing and the overall 'grittiness' and contrast of the shot. The low angle, the two people in the background and the window beyond are all vital elements that come together and combine rather well to tell a kind of short story here. What is that story? Who knows...I will add that I've had a Camden Town brew in one of those glasses - and it's not your average beer glass, as you probably know. Well done indeed and many thanks for your entry.
Firstly, my thanks to all those who took the time to enter this competition and managed to stick to the brief. This winning shot caught my eye immediately although, admittedly, I deliberated long and hard as to its eventual placing. I like the utilisation of the vignetting you have here - which emphasises the subject matter....and which, in my opinion, works brilliantly within the squared format. The colour of the clear liquid within the cup also works particularly well, but it's the concentric circles that run from top to bottom throughout this shot that I really like. The inclusion of the spoon just tops it off really well. Well done indeed, and many thanks for your entry.

I love the relatively cool tones of this shot and the overall 'ethereal' feel I think it portrays. The composition and positioning of the glass - in true thirds fashion - is precise and spot on- with the splash of colour afforded by the contents of the glass working rather well. I guess that is some kind of rainstorm going on the other side of the window - which tops a rather nice shot off brilliantly. Well done and many thanks for your entry.
A very clever shot in my opinion. The composition is good but, of course, what makes this shot is the inclusion of the entire building beyond within the drinking glass itself. Admittedly, I did wonder what the criss-crossed texture that appears across the building facade is all about, but will assume it's some kind of window blind and not - what I thought at first it to be - a shot in front of a television. I like it - congratulations and many thanks for your entry.
Amongst the proliferation of the many studio-style shots - of which I am not a particular fan - this shot stood out somewhat for me in comparison. Like a good many of us, I like a picture to somehow tell a story. In this respect - and in my opinion - the studio-style shot can perhaps fail to deliver in certain circumstances, despite the obvious effort and hard work that goes into them. That said, this shot is simple, probably off-the-cuff and tells that all-important potential story. I like it. Many thanks for your entry.
Less is most definitely more - and that completely works in this shot. I particularly like the curvature afforded by the glass and the stem - and of the lack of colour therein - and then you get to that lovely splash of red within the glass itself. It goes without saying the soft focus and composition both add to what I think is a lovely shot. Well done and many thanks for your entry.

The kind of shot after my own heart. Again, the positioning and composition is spot on - and its good to see the shadows the glasses have created included in their entirety. The texture and pattern afforded by the wood upon which they rest just adds to the overall appeal of this shot....and I particularly like the warm tones you have here. My thanks for your entry.
This image somehow stood out for me almost from the start - I love the idea, the composition and the detail of the condensation on the side of the glass in particular. I also like the low F number used here, which nicely blurs out any unwanted background detail to enable the viewer to focus on the subject in question...I also like the nice warm tones of the liquid contained within the glass...which I hope is beer...and all taken on a cameraphone - what will they think of next? Well done and many thanks for your entry.

Let me see your photos of a glass, or other receptacle such as a cup, that contains something ready to drink by us humans. Please make sure the focus of your image is on such a receptacle and which contains something to drink. No empty glasses or cups and strictly no composite images. New photos will be more than welcome.
