A Moment in Time

December 2022

So I know I shouldn't laugh but what a funny moment. Very glad to hear everyone saw the funny side of it. And the picture is just so perfectly timed. Literally the instant before going in. I love the little splash made by the crop that's already hit the water. To make this shot even stronger I think a tighter crop would help. Making all the elements a little bigger and really showing the viewer that fantastic expression! And it's still an amazing shot as is, well done.

I think a lot of the images in this competition concentrated on the theme in the sense of a short instant in time full of action an energy frozen by the camera. Here I think we see another perspective. A moment of stillness, of calm inaction coupled with immaculate composition. There is a peaceful power in this shot. And the composition and light is so beautiful I think I could look at it for hours. An incredible image, thank you.

There's something about the simplistic perfection of this image that makes it hard for me to take my eyes off it. And I only mean simple in the sense of the composition. Reduced right down to this pure instant. I love that we see the very moment on contact with the water. Only happening a moment before the exposure so there's minimal splash and each drop is defined. The use of negative space really allows for further appreciation each little element of this moment. With that perfect reflection just finishing off this feast for the eye. An amazing image, congratulations.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 1 and 250 in this week’s Leaderboard.** Whilst photography’s very essence is the capturing of a moment, not all moments are maybe considered to be equal. When that moment is carefully chosen, hints (or shouts) about what went before and what will go after, and is packed with story, meaning, and interest, it warrants and can keep our attention. Choose your images carefully for this contest - the moment captured should be evident to the viewer, and a testament to the timing (and sometimes luck) of the photographer.
