Abandoned

I can hear the bird's wings flapping in this deserted room. The lower bird is neatly placed in the incoming sunbeam which also captures the dust motes rising up from the floor. The very limited colour palette enhances the mood of desolation. A wonderful image!

This is an excellent and highly evocotive image. The composition is spot on and the eye is lead in from the bottom right hand corner in an S curve through to the appropriately ominous sky from which this enormous plane fell so many years ago. B&W is so right for this. I well remember coming across this scene when walking this part of the Pennine Way many years ago. It was so quite and eerie and you have caught the mood and atmosphere of the place very well indeed. A worthy winner in my opinion!

What a wonderfully serene mood you have captured here! The long exposure has smoothed out the sea and sky to give the impression of the boats floating on air. The grasses in the bottom corners are very important and anchor the image. I think if you could have achieved a little seperation between the boats that would have improved the composition. I personally don't like Watermarks but at least yours is very tastefully done and unobtrusive! Great photo!

This is a great interpretation of the contest theme. You have created an almost cinematic effect here. The old suitcase, intriguingly open with papers spilling out, adds to the drama and mystery of the scene. The composition is excellent with the open door to the right and the passageway leading away from the case to another open door in the distance. This image asks more questions than it answers. What happened here? Excellent!
