The photographer in second place has done a great job of playing with shapes and light to create this final effective result. The composition creates an illusion and at a glance it's tricky to work out what is what! The contrast between the moody blue tones of the sky in the window against the warm orange glow of the sunlight bouncing from the wall, are pleasing to the eye. The use of the silhouetted figure in the corner also brings an added element to the scene and we're reminded of human presence.
Great work from the photographer who has composed this scene to take first place in our abandoned themed contest. There is something strange and eerie about this image that urges the viewer to explore it further. The image has been taken in lowlight and uses the dull blue and grey tones of the winter setting to create an atmospheric result. It almost like you feel like something has happened or is about to! By editing the final result into a panoramic view it gives it an almost movie and film like quality.
Well done to the photographer who has taken a minimalist approach to get this effective final result. The composition is strong and by abandoning the rule of thirds and sticking the main focal point in the centre of the frame they have created a stronger concept. The black and white finish works perfectly for this subject matter and the final touches at the editing stage, such as the vignette effect and boost in contrast, draws the eye in. Technically this image ticks all the boxes and the use of a slow shutter speed creates the silky effect over the water and blurs the clouds in the sky. Great work.
