Having been in Africa myself many many times I know how difficult it is to have a shot like this. Hippos normally don't splash up a lot of water while just yawning and in this light it's really difficult to have good and well focused shot as well.
Love the light, the colours, the eye (he looks almost kind of crazy!) and all the water movement!
I really love this image! It's almost as if the elephant seal slides into the photo from the left, trying to chase the penguins so they won't steal the show. ;-)
The colours, contrast and the fact that everything happens just below the horizon were what caught my eye as well. Wonderful and special photo!
From the many pictures of diving king fishers in this contest I chose this one to get a review as well. It's really the perfect moment, the perfect splashing and the perfect pose of the bird! I also like the colours and the light in this one.
Unfortunately there could be only ten photos in the top 10, but this one is surely number 11!
This picture is really one of my favourites. Although not much is happening, it makes me curious. Why is the bear standing on its hind legs, what is he or she looking at?
The dark background, the light on the face and the very soft editing make this image like in a fairy tale. Almost as if the bear isn't real! Love it!
To me this is a winning photo. The light, the colours but especially the moment: they are all spot on. If you look at the image you can almost hear the noises and screams that come with it. And you also now it's a split second only: the next moment it can be totally different again.
Very well done!

If one thinks of animals in action this scenery is really one that comes to mind. Haven't we all seen this in documentaries?
I like the colours and the splashing in the bottom, together with the dust higher up on the bank. It really gives the impression of a lot of movement and a lot of noise. Well done!

I would like to see your action photos of animals in the wild. The action could include fighting, running, playing, hunting, etc. Please only enter animals in the wild; no domesticated, pet or zoo animals. Things to consider when photographing action include how you capture movement and energy; and how you choose the right moment. Images can be in colour or black and white.
Talking about moments, this is absolutely a wonderful moment to capture, well done! The clouds, the sunset and the almost silhouettes make the photo quite mysterious.
For me I think the image would have been even better if there was a little less foreground and if the dark patch on the upper right corner was a bit smaller, may be just losing one or two antelopes in the process.
All by all quite a different and stunning shot!
