Against a black background

I love the vibrancy of the colours in this image, they really pop against the black background and it fits the brief perfectly. In my opinion this is a great example of how a plain black background can really enhance an image.

I love this picture, especially how the feathers on the birds neck frame the face. The bird is so expressive and the use of black and white against the black background works perfectly in my opinion.. I was really pleased with the quality of the submissions to the contest and although it was a tough decision, this one is definitely my favourite.

I think this is a great portrait shot. The way the light falls on the face is set off perfectly by the black background. I love the amount of detail captured in the image and the cat has a great expression.

I feel that this image has an almost dream like quality to it. Personally I love the way the petals of the flower almost seem to dissolve in to the black background of the image. I feel as if the light almost seems to emanate from the centre of the flower adding to the ethereal nature of the picture.

I love the luminous quality of the flower in this image. In my opinion any possible loss of detail at the centre of the flower is more than made up for by the ethereal quality of the blue agains the black background.

I love the brilliance of the colour, I think the green of the snake really pops against the black background. I also feel that the background really helps to enhance the coils of the snake and the suggestion of poise in anticipation of sudden movement.

This made me smile as soon as i saw it. There seems to be a real look of determination on the ducklings face. In my opinion the use of the black background really helps the viewer focus on the ducklings expression.
