Agonies of city life

City life leads to growth of several professions, good or bad. Begging is one such profession that thrives in a city. The dark belly of an urban life is captured emphatically in this image. The expressions of the lady and the outstretching hands of the man tell quite a story about the conditions of these beggars who are busy attracting the uninterested passersby.

This image catches attraction for the contrasting colours it captures. Rickshaw pullers, who pull their rickshaws manually, are an integral part of some cities in the Southeast Asian countries. The physical involvement in their trade is bound to make them dead tired and the picture quite beautifully captures the rest period of one such rickshaw puller. The image stands out for the colours, the subtle natural light and the crisp focusing the photographer has achieved.

This is a captivating composition! The silhouettes of two men and the light coming in from the exit of the subway increase the intrigue of the picture. One can feel the sombre mood of an urban man who seems to be returning from work, tired and exhausted fighting his daily battles of life. While the violin player seems to be enjoying his music in the quiet corner of the subway. Contrasting emotions captured subtly. The lines of the floor appear to create a divide between the emotional conditions of these men, although if the deeper flooring line had run through the centre of the image, it could have been a real treat. Nonetheless, a brilliant capture.

Loneliness! One of the darkest facts of city life captured quite strikingly in this pic. Old age is not which finds a favourable place in the fast life of a city and the old man who is clicked sitting alone on a bench staring a water body is depicts such social isolation. The diminishing row of lamp posts and the series of trees which fade from left to right creates an illusion that the place is desolate for a long distance from the old man. Well thought out composition!

I liked the texture of this image. The man appears to be a poor lost traveller or a homeless destitute urban who is struggling to find something he needs at the moment. His expressions of being desperately lost are clicked at the right time as if he is searching something in the white plastic bag. The shadow which is bigger than the man in the image is symbolic to the dark time this person must be going through. The footpath seems to be dimly lit yet the photographer has managed to capture a sharp image. The subtle colours in the image are beautifully balanced.
