All things white

This is a clean, strong architectural photograph with great lines / diagonals running across the image leading the eye through to the corner of the frame. The composition is fab and by waiting for the person to hit at that point before pressing the shutter was perfect. It gives scale and interest and the pop of colour works well. A great architectural shot.

Shooting in -15 degrees is a challenge in itself so taking time to stop and capture the ice forms on this bench was admirable. . It's another strong i-phone image. Unfortunately the pixelation in the sky isn't great, but it's a lovely shot and really gives the viewer a feeling of the environment.

With the theme of White there were quite a lot photos depicting Swans, but this one stood out. It's very graphic quality suits the monochromatic and we're seeing a subject from a different angle that works fantastically well. The symmetry in the wings is pleasing and the amount of detail in the plumage is great. It's an arresting image and the timing by the photographer is perfect.

It’s great when imagery is pushed in another direction and away from the expected. ‘Out of focus’ is not always a bad thing and this photo is full of atmosphere and the essence of the occasion is brilliantly portrayed. To create or capture a feeling and make it feel authentic can be a challenge, but this works really well. Often images are created to be used with text / copy in the working world and I could see this being used in that way as it has great space for text.

This bold and contrasting image, shot on an i-phone, stood out with it’s unexpected and different approach to interpreting ‘White’. It illustrates the success of a strong, simple composition.

It’s inspiring that such a great image can be achieved without having to invest in expensive equipment and shows that having a keen eye and capturing great light is what it’s all about. The light on the grass is wonderful and the green hues add to the image which may otherwise have possibly been a little monochromatic. Great shot.

This is a good example of wide captured moment that tells a story and shows a slice of today’s world. Combining architecture and people it is a strong image and full of interest. The framing is really good, with the people in the bottom third of frame and leaving the rest of the image to the architecture and structure of the building. The very high contrast and grain can sometimes take away from the quality but in this image it gives anonymity to the people and works well.
