I absolutely love the minimalism of this shot, especially the usage of light here. First of all the symmetry is beautiful, as well as the sort of pull the viewer feels while watching this shark exit the scene into a dark abyss. It almost serves as an invitation to go deeper. But as I said, the light here is the real star of the show: the rays piercing through the surface above contrasted against the black of the tail facing the depths below. The tail is such a nice detail, it tells a story, reflecting the absolute total lack of light coming from below, contrasting nicely with the sun spots on the shark's back. I love this image!
Both the crinoid and shrimp are stunning, the black and white striping is such a visual delight. This image is very cool considering crinoids have been on earth about 500 million years, so in viewing this image you are viewing a marvel of evolution through a length of history difficult to even contemplate! From an artistic perspective, I love how you've bisected the image diagonally with the crinoid's arm, allowing the viewer's eye to fall naturally on the camouflaged shrimp. The image is well lit and dynamic. Excellent work!
This is such a nice, clean portrait, which is very difficult to do with three subjects. I think the photographer's decision to get on eye level was absolutely flawless, this is such a great way to get water to have that perfectly blurred, soft look that is peaceful to the eye and not distracting. Eye level also invites the viewer to view an animal in an intimate, personal setting as if you were one of them. Each of these seals has a unique look and personality, the texture of their fur is quite beautiful, and of course I love the little guy on the left with his "Buddha" smile and pose. Excellent work and edit!
Beautiful shot and such an incredible usage of minimalism and shapes. I absolutely love the curve of the shark's body here, expertly captured from above. The textures of the sand and gentle light contrast well against the dark curve of her form. Such a svelte animal, I love the portrait you made of her.
I absolutely love how this fin slices across the image, creating a line of movement and energy through otherwise still water. Sometimes I rather enjoy minimalism in portraiture, although the dolphin's fin is the only visible part of its body, it is immediately recognizable and therefore still compelling. I think this image showcases the relationship between aquatic animals and their environment well: brilliant blues, surface tension, the slicing motion of a creature moving through the water. Incredible work!
This photo is so well balanced, bright and expressive. The perspective on the crocodile is wonderful for emphasizing that incredible head, complete with bright white teeth. I love the boldness of the colors, the framing and composition of the shot, and the contrast between the subject and scene and the distorted water above. Great work!
This shot is so evocative to me, both in its simplicity and the imaginative quality it has. I love the beams of light illuminating the jellyfish, as well as all the little motes of aquatic debris and life floating around you. The textures are beautiful, and the illuminated subject draws your eye right to where darkness and light intersect. A stunning shot of the underwater world to be sure!
This image is stunning, I absolutely love the texture and pattern on the catfish especially. The composition here is beautiful, the symmetry and pattern interrupted by the predator coming in on the upper right, which of course draws the viewer into the scene. There is a story here, which creates an evocative narrative. Such a lovely shot and beautiful work! These split second moments of order amidst chaos are one of my favorite types of scenes in wildlife photography.
This image is so fun! I love the perspective here- a great reminder that ups and downs aren't quite so relevant under the surface. The motion and movement is wonderful, you can see how the sea lion twists through the water at high speed even in this static image. The bubbles sort of "ground" the image as they lead your eye to the surface. What I especially love is the framing of the eye in the bottom right, it draws you right in and the viewer can almost imagine experiencing this incredible moment of connection for themselves!
This image is striking. The detailed eye immediately locks with your viewer's - creating a sense of familiarity and recognition. At the same time, the eye is quite alien, a great representation of the diversity of life on earth. I think the editing choices here were clever, the rest of the image falls away leaving the subject of the eyeball clear as day. I also love the pockmarked texture of this fish, altogether a captivating image.
This image is fantastic for inspiring evocative thoughts. What an incredible portrayal of the history of life on earth - especially since bony fishes are the largest class of vertebrates. I think this unusual photo is a welcome reminder of our relationship to aquatic life, a family sitting in contemplation before this massive creature long lost to the world. I appreciate the usage of black and white here and I think the editing brings out the immensity of the fossil, dwarfing the humans below.

The chaos of the jellyfish's beaded tendrils create a very abstract scene for this stunning image. I love the usage of light and contrast here, it is quite a complimentary shot of your subject matter. The soft and smooth texture of the jelly's body almost looks like a white gown. I love this shot, beautifully artistic.

Aquatic wildlife is any, whether vertebrate or invertebrate, that lives in (and not just on) a body of water for all or most of its lifetime. That includes both freshwater and saltwater animals, and everything from the tiniest organisms like plankton to the great ocean whales.
The contrast between these two lifeforms makes for an incredible shot. What a brute of a fish, his entourage must stick around him for safety! The composition of your image is very nice, as well as the lighting on the riot of fish darting around the image. I love the juxtaposition of the chaotic little school flitting around the scene and the monolithic figure of the grouper prowling through the image.
This is a beautiful, clean portrait. I find the milky background and soft, muted colors quite complimentary to this subject matter. I also especially love the reflected eyes of this frog, which in turn are reflecting the world around him in the darkest parts of his eyeballs. Love the little parasites on him too, they are just as much a part of the story as the frog! At first glance this is a simple image, but it really is quite well developed at a closer look!
This photo is an incredibly alien, evocative image of life that normally would be unseen to most if not for the wonders of modern photography! I am so taken by the camouflage of this incredible little organism wrapped amongst his coral home. On a technical standpoint, this image is beautiful: well lit, well composed, with a nice dark background to eliminate anything that might compete with the stark beauty and intrigue of the subject seahorse and coral. Nice work!
