Backlighting

Not one of the easiest subjects to approach close as I can testify. The backlighting not only highlights the butterfly but also the grass head it's resting on, makeing them stand out against the dark background. Well done in making my top 10.

Although it was a very closely contested I have awarded my first position to this beautifuly lit image. This is what backlighting can do for an image used correctly. From first seeing this image it just grabbed my attention and held it. Well exposed to show detail in the subjects without turning them into silhouette while highlighting the smoke and ladies blouse. Congratulations.

This is a subjeect perfect for using backlighting. While highlighting the fine hairs it also penetrates the seed pods turning the seeds into silhouette shapes. Beautifuly lit and sharp making this a wonderful close-up image and worthy of finishing in my top ten images. Well done and keep up the good work.

As I expected there were many shots of leaves but this one stood out from the crowd as it shows the transition from green to golden brown in a single leaf with some beautiful backlighting.. Well done in getting through to my commended entries.

One of the most unusal subjects entered for my backlighting competition but due to luck or timing, getting the sun shinning through the crack in the middle column makes it works for me. Well done for making it through to my commended entries.

With this super shot we get two for the price of one. We have the squirrel beautifully rim lit highlighting it's coat and the most gorgeous backlighting coming through the Autumn gold and yellow leaves. Very well done just a lovely image.
