This is a beautifully thoughtful and engaging image of a young boy deep in thought outside an Orthodox Church in Ethiopia. The stark white background draws complete attention to the little boy. His face contrasts beautifully with the white of his blanket and the white wall. The photographer skilfully used Spot Metering to expose the subjects face perfectly creating a very striking high-key image. This image is a great example of an unexpected and spontaneous capture. We love this photo as the predominant white tones make it stand out from the other darker, more moody entries.

This stunning portrait stands out from the other entires because it feels very honest, and we really love that this was another spontaneous capture taken on a bus in London. The photographer has managed to isolate the subject from what was probably a very busy background, which draws complete attention to the details of the subject's face. The texture in her skin and the details in her glasses are what really makes this picture. She could almost be a movie star - and we love that!
