I really love this beautifully shot image. I set this competition saying to myself that any images of the low lighthouse at Burnham would have to be amazing to get into my top ten. The reason being is I live in Burnham-on-sea and have seen and shot many images of this lovely iconic landmark. But this surpasses any other image of this subject I've seen. Capturing the movement of the sand as the wind blows across is challenging in itself but to do this and get the atmosphere of the blue hour shows terrific skill in camera. Congratulations and thank you for entering.
Choosing a top ten was incredibly difficult because there were so many images that were totally on subject as your's is. Of the factors that made this stand out for me is that it's beautifully, composed, exposed and processed the colours really come out without being overdone. I find my eye is pulled into the central brown building and is then encouraged to move around the frame finding other areas of interest. The reflection rather than being still has interesting movement about it with the ripples but is still complete enough to hold my eye for a moment. The clouds have that fascinating threatening quality and last but not least you have taken the time to tell us a little about the image. A superb piece of work, well done on being the winner.

This contest is for your photos where the main feature is a building that is raised on stilts. The image can be in colour or monochrome but must feature a building that is raised above ground level independently on stilts. The method of holding the building above the ground must be man-made, so no tree houses etc.

At first glance I really like this image, the colours grabbed my eye, along with the beautiful reflection. Unfortunately it seems to lack the definition and depth of those I selected for the top ten but it came very close to getting there. I am always a bit disappointed with this type of image, ie, travel and landscapes when there is no explanation regarding where this is and what the houses are about. That said it's a nice shot.

Wonderful image of life on the river, it came really close to one of my top ten. The lady using the pole for something adds interest to an already lovely image. I think the only thing that held it back was in comparison to some in the top ten there is not quite as much depth to the exposure which prevents the viewer exploring what's in the shadows and enhancing the textures of the houses. But altogether a superb image documenting life in a stilted house on the river. Thank you for entering the competition.
Terrific image and there was not a lot to distinguish between the top images. I love how you have composed this, which can't have been easy from a moving boat. Only two small issues prevented this shot from being a closer fight for the winner. One being the horizon is not quite straight and the other (and this is just a personal preference) is I would have done a little work in processing on the perspective to straighten the forts so they don't look as if they are leaning in to each other. I really like that you've written a little explanation, although is the location correct, I thought these are situated, near the mouth of the Thames? That said this really is a terrific image and well deserving of second place.
