This quietly spoken image has a lot more depth and substance to it than one might at first think. The overall composition works really well. There is tension and drama in the frame which is accentuated by the barbed wire and dark menacing sky that maybe speaks to wider concerns about humanity's relationship with nature and the environment. Meet the expert judge
A beautifully designed image with lovely use of line, shape, tone, colour and texture. It is a slight shame that it appears quite 'granular', maybe the result of too much noise (high ISO) or over-sharpening. Sometimes this can be a useful creative tool, however, I think in this instance it's excessive. Lovely work though, keep it up.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked below 1000 in this week’s <a href="https://www.photocrowd.com/photographer-community/">Leaderboard</a>.** Succulents are plants that have parts which are thickened and fleshy and well adapted to storing water and surviving in water-scarce environments. One particular family, Cactaceae (Cactus) are almost all succulents. They store water in their stems, and their true leaves have usually been lost, replaced with spines, which are highly modified leaves. There are many strange-looking and beautiful cacti and succulents, and they are very popular as houseplants. All types, whether in the wild, or on your windowsill, can be entered into this contest.
