I really loved the modest colours, the simple composition and the clean frame of this photo. I thought it made for a sophisticated and stunning portrait of this Pitcher plant and really captured how delicate its pitfall trap structure is - in spite of its deadly purpose. Thank you so much for entering your photograph!

I thought this was a great close-up of Venus Fly Trap - I loved the contrasting lime green and blood red colours displayed throughout the image and I also really liked that the trigger hairs were visible within the traps. If one was to imagine what a carnivorous plant would look like, without ever having seen one, it would surely look most like a Venus Fly Trap! Thank you so much for entering this image.
This photo really stood out to me as soon as I saw it. I thought the composition and lighting really showcased the fascinating structure of this carnivorous Sundew leaf - every glandular tentacle is in sharp focus as the monochrome background transitions from dark to light. Looking at the image, it’s hard to believe that this leaf, bejewelled in silver and gold, is a carnivore waiting patiently to capture its prey - thank you so much for entering your photo!
I really love the colours in this photo which are so vibrant and balanced throughout - from the Pitcher plants and their venation, through to the blurred background and the frame, which I thought really enhanced the overall photograph. To me these elements combined with the light to create such a fresh and flamboyant feel to the overall image. Thank you so much for entering this image!

I would love to see your photos of carnivorous plants. Examples include pitcher plants, butterworts, sundews and fly traps. It should be obvious from the photo that the subject is a carnivorous plant, with the photo including the part of the plant that captures its prey and/or the photo shows the plant with its unlucky victim. Photos can be in colour or black and white. I really look forward to seeing your photos.
