I think the idea of the photo is really nice: a symmetric composition of the building and also the circumpolar in the background. If I was shooting this subject I would be tempted to get the polaris within the frame and play with the while balance to remove the green tone. I would straighten the building too using, e.g., PS, because it is slightly slanted to the left.
It has been hard to choose a winner. I decided to give the first position to this photo because the composition of the building pointing to the polar star is really catchy. In my opinion you should take care of the sharpness and noise in the first plane (the rocks seem to be a little out of focus and noisy). My recommendation to improve the photo would be to use the hyperfocal distance to get everything sharp and doble or triple expose the scene to blend the results and avoid the noise in the shadows.

I like this photo because of the trees and the color of the sky: very original. I saw on your description that finding the polaris was a technical challenge. For that I would recommend you to use the app Sky Map. Very easy to use to know where the polaris is located and also to shot meteor showers. I hope this help you for the next time.
