City clickers

Part of Amateur Photographer of the Year 2017

Open Rating Results
Brief

This contest is focusing on architectural photography and cityscapes, not street photography.

The 'City clickers' round offers huge scope to create all manner of creative, dynamic shots. From the early morning sun throwing long shadows onto a skyscraper, to the delicate interplay of light and shape in a grand theatre, the possibilities are endless. While we fully expect you to explore the buildings of towns and cities, don’t forget that architecture takes many forms. For example, a bridge can offer many different compositional and framing opportunities. Also remember that the surrounding elements can be beneficial to your subject and can give it a sense of scale, for example, too much or too little sky can make or break an image. Finally, don’t be afraid to be a little abstract in your images. Architecture is filled with curves, lines and other interesting details, and they can all be captured to great effect.

The panel's 1st place photographer will win over £1000 of Sigma products, and the crowd's 1st place will win year-long subscriptions to Amateur Photographer magazine and Photocrowd.

How it works

Every photo submitted will be available for the crowd to rate once the submissions period has ended. In this contest, the entries are hidden until the rating period begins.

Some contests on Photocrowd also have a judge. After the submission period closes the judge chooses their favourite images and writes some image reviews. The crowd and judge results will be announced on the same day.
