Classic Still Life (in colour)

There were many beautiful images entered into this contest, and thank you to everyone who shared their vision! This lovely image is the definition of "Classic Still Life". The Dutch Masters created paintings like this, with soft, directed lighting and gentle contrasts. In this image, the grapes are perfectly highlighted and the use of a rustic table adds to the character of the room. Well done, and congratulations on 1st Place!

This image uses natural side lighting beautifully. The composition implies that the light is coming from a window in the potting shed and gradually diminishes on the objects further from the window. It also tells the story of the potting shed, with the tools as well as potted flowers. The effects of light and shadow create a moody atmosphere. Lovely.
