Cold Sunrises and Sunsets (in colour)

This was a very difficult contest to judge as there were so many brilliant images, yet it was this photo that caught my eye early on and it never lost it's place in the top 10, however much I juggled everything else about right up to the last evening. I absolutely love the composition with the stark contrast between the soft colours of the sunrise and the cold mist in the foreground verses the stark lines of the solid viaduct. A masterpiece and worthy winner. Congratulations

Wish I was there, was all I could think when I spotted this timeless beauty. The stillness, the cold and the soft colours are so clear and harmonic and it must be a privilege and joy to walk your dog in such surroundings. Thanks for showing a very different side of bustling London.

Wow!!! Hopefully you could shoot that with a long lens from a save distance. Here is raw power emerging from the trees, it would make a great opening scene for a film! It's amazing how the sun behind the bison colours the steamy breath of the beast yellow - great effect and clear contrast to the frosty foreground.

Thank you for getting up this early to take such beautiful images, it surely was worthwhile. This image has such emotional depths to it, it has really inspired me to see this part of the country for myself. This is the impact a photo of this quality can have, no shouting, no gimmicks needed - just nature at it's best. May places like this be around for many years to come.

I was tempted to put my sunglasses on when I looked at this image for the first time. The stark whiteness is almost overwhelming and yet magical. It really is a winter wonderland. I love the way the low sun illuminates the right side of the tree, very well done. The picture surely benefits from having a cloudy sky, as I think a clear blue sky would have been too much on the eyes.
