This shot brought a smile to my face when I saw it - it's a beautifully observed shot with the off-centred composition of the red working so well within the bigger picture. The green and the gold on the walls make the red really pop out. I love the interaction in all directions between the pupils and adults. But more interesting is the way the subjects in the paintings are observing the group of children as well as us, viewers of this photograph. The good sharp depth of field encourages you to really take in all the intricate details in the room. Great shot.

There's something about this shot that makes you stop and look, just as the subject him/herself is looking the viewer. This child's stare cuts beautifully through the dramatic Spiderman costume with an interesting off-centre positioning, while the tight crop accentuates the eyes. Again, the square format works well here.
Call me old-fashioned, but I love a good view. The composition works really well here with the red sails set off from the green landscape. I like the way the lines from the mountains add a softer background distraction behind the trees, and the rock point draws your eye beautifully across the shot to one side.

This is such a simple, yet strong graphic everyday observation of a bird on a window feeder, and fits the 'red' brief perfectly with its clever use of colouring through the red blind. The bird is captured just at the right time, making a beautiful silhouette. The backlit plastic makes for some lovely extra tones, and the off-centre composition works a treat. This is a great shot.
I love this image of a commuter on the Tube. Her central positioning in the frame commands your attention. Her shape, as she focusses so intently on her phone, gives her a buddha-like quality. The blackness behind the glass window sets off the red beautifully. The pole in the foreground gives the image depth, and I like the way the red is repeated in the fabric of the seating. Nice capture.
