The inclusion of the shore allows the viewer to ground their feet in the scene and lose themselves in the beauty of the location. A winning example of the brief and an all round wonderful photo.
An eerie and almost surreal image that evokes a calming an mysterious mood. The perfectly centred horizon gives the illusion of a reflected image for the structures on the lake. The smooth featureless water and sky accentuated the details of the concrete and allow the eye to explore the distant scenery. The monochromatic tones add to the overall feel of the image. **This contest is open to photographers ranked 1001+ in this week’s <a href="https://www.photocrowd.com/photographer-community/">Leaderboard</a>.** Strong composition is essential for most photography, and when played well, one of the strongest and most intentional compositions is the dead-centre horizon. It doesn’t always work, depending as it does upon what’s above and below the horizon, and both halves of the image need to be well weighted in relation to each other.
