This photograph is for me an excellent street portrait, but unfortunately, it is not a contextual portrait. I find that the surrounding environment is not sufficiently present in the photograph. In any case, I congratulate you, this is one of the most beautiful non-award-winning photographs in this competition. I think he will be able to give you satisfactions in other themed competitions. Thank you for participating.

This photograph represents everything a travel photographer looks for in his urban walks ... colors and lights are fantastic, as are the subjects and the setting. I love the story that this photograph tells and I am pleased to reward you with the absolute second place, beaten only by an amazing photo that has been able to take advantage of a deeper story. Congratulations for this important award.

Meet the expert judge

I looked through the photographs presented an image taken in nature and I immediately chose this one among the winners! The subject is very interesting but what makes this image incredible is undoubtedly the apparently casual weave of horns but which has, in reality, an out of the ordinary harmony. The shallow deep of the field and the mist complete the composition with a beautiful touch of class. The technical ability and technical sensitivity demonstrated here is among the best I've ever seen and the author of this photo has all my respect because we are talking about top photographer. Congratulations on this beautiful image, thank you for sharing it in this contest!

This photograph makes me want to take my photo backpack, my suitcase and a plane to go on my next photographic journey to find a travel scene with so many details! The colors and lights are very well managed, the environment is the best you can find in Asia. And the colors are exceptional! I suppose it's an image taken in Bangladesh? In any case it is a beautiful contextual portrait and deserves my third absolute place! Congratulations!

I could not miss a travel image converted to black and white in my first 5 positions. This is for me the most interesting monochrome street photography in this contest. I love the non-obvious composition, the expression of the boy and the rough post production you wanted to use. I believe you were able to capture a very interesting moment with excellent photographic technique and great human sensitivity. Congratulations on this 4th place!

The fact that the viewer is given more information about the subject of the photo can bring to life new theories about who they are and why they’re there, and inform completely new lines of interpretation. Maybe a swimmer in a pool or a writer in their study; the character of an environment can be just as beguiling as the sitter.
