this is a bit different than most pictures submitted in the contest. except for the coyote, the entire canvas is blank snow. some people might see this as boring. however, the photograph has a few elements that makes it a very interesting one. first, the leading line created by the coyote's tracks draw the viewer's eyes diagonally across the picture and through the snow. it's interesting to me that the coyote has tracks before and after him, so he either backtracked, or is following the tracks of another. second, the symmetry of the photo makes it feel very "empty" to me. normally, photographers aim to fulfil the rule of thirds, however, the intentional centring of this photo makes it seem like the coyote is the main character in this world, as if it is almost the only thing to ever exist in the snow. good job!
i love how the colour of this coyote's fur matches the colour almost perfectly of the branches sticking out of the ground. had i took this photo, i would have maybe tried to shoot at a slightly different angle, so the branch behind the coyote didnt look like it was coming out of his head, because that did draw my attention right away. nevertheless, it's a fantastic shot. nice job,
at first, i had this photo without an award at all, because i am really not a fan of the stick covering most of the coyote's face. however, the more that i studied the photo, the more i felt drawn to it. it's such a humorous photo- the coyote's annoyed expression as he sits, glaring into the distance, a mound of snow on his nose. in all, despite the distracting foreground, its a great capture. nice job!
i really like this photo. it looks like such a simple scene when you first glance at it, but the way you captured the coyote so that it blends so well into its natural habitat is amazing. it really showcases how cool nature it. if i had done anything differently, i would have made sure the frame was tilted. that can be easily fixed in photoshop though. great job!
i have to say, originally, i wasn't going to award this picture, because i wasn't a huge fan of the background or setting. however the way you caught the coyote is so perfect. the expression on his face, the way he is walking (you can really see the motion), the clarity of the shot. all of that is amazing ! i think that you did your best, despite a less than ideal background. i also love the title.
i like how you were able to capture the "wetness" on the coyote's fur so well. it adds a lot to a picture that, without it, might have been very similar to many of the other photos entered in this contest. also, you caught the coyote in a moment where it looked particularly contemplative, which is very cool to me!
ah, i really like this photo. something as simple as bordering a photo can make it look so much cleaner and professional because it kind of feels like the viewer is seeing it matted and on the wall of a gallery. also the way you caught the coyote from the back and it feels as though it is unaware of your presence is really cool.
aw, so cute. i haven't seen too many entries of coyote pups in this contest, and i think this is a great one. not only did you capture it looking straight towards the camera, which creates a sense of intimacy between the subject and the viewer, you also created a nice sense of motion, through your capturing of the pup taking a step forward. good job!
