What makes this image stand out, beyond the vibrant flowing colors, is the movement and the enthusiasm of the crowd. The viewer can feel the energy pulsing through this crowd of revelers. I love the way the powdered colors have different textures as well. Some are shooting up and some are misty clouds. It's the combination of all these things together that makes this a winning image. The slower shutter speed used here definitely helps to create the overall feel of this image and what I love about it.

The beauty in this crowd of fishermen with their nets is great. No matter that parts of the frame are out of focus, it actually lends itself to the ethereal feel created here. The break between the fishermen and the crowd above helps create a perfectly placed horizon line.. The sharp focus in the center of the image is essential and pulls the scene together. The viewers eyes have many places to dance around in this elegant shot. Well done.

Great shot on so many levels. The lion costumed person in the middle of the frame ads so much here. It's a crowd that seems to go on indefinitely and one that is multi-layered and colorful as well. The fact that these are people all on boats on a river is a third or fourth read. The density of the group completely blocks out any hint of water.. This could easily seem like a street scene, and yet it's not. The medium focus length was perfect to make the central lion costumed man stand out against the crowd. Great job!

**This contest is open to photographers ranked 1001+ in this week’s Leaderboard.** There’s something uniquely interesting about us when we get together in large groups - it’s an opportunity for comparisons of look, attitude, expression and dress, and to observe different behaviours, and the arenas in which we congregate. And we're focussing in this contest on crowds of the human kind.
