Thank you for taking the time to submit your entry to "Crystals and Geodes in Colour". This image is a study in opposites. There is the simplicity of a smooth crystal on a rough, craggy base. The crystal itself is more complex upon further inspection as it imprisons a cold shimmering rainbow in it's depths. The sun warms one portion of the base while another remains dark. There is much to see in this image in addition to the beautifully photographed crystal. I find this image to be exemplary and my #1 pick for this contest.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your entry to "Crystals and Geodes in Colour". This magnificent example of a geode is perfectly cut to highlight it's inner beauty. Your choice of a black background with the two halves separated, and your excellent use of lighting further enhances the image allowing the viewer to see the very small layer of outer "crust" that hides the inner beauty of the geode. Spectacular!

Thank you for taking the time to submit your entry to "Crystals and Geodes in Colour". I love these particular crystals as I have seen them in person and am aware of their massive size. While normally a person in the background of a photograph may be unwelcome, in this case it gives perspective to the gigantic crystals that otherwise would be unknown to the viewer.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your entry to "Crystals and Geodes in Colour". The layered colors in this amethyst stone are simply stunning. From the cold impenetrable gray on the bottom, to the dark emerald green, to the clear as ice center, to the varied purple top, you captured each aspect with artistic flair, earning a top 10 spot.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your entry to "Crystals and Geodes in Colour". I am very familiar with quartz crystals as I picked them up from my parents garden by the dozens as a child. I know the huge variation in size, color, and clarity, along with the natural slope of the crystal. Your entry of seven neatly stacked atop of one another and photographed against a mystical background is simply breathtaking! I know you you must have exercised great patience in finding the exact ones that would "fit" aesthetically and in stacking. Congratulations! From a viewers perspective, the outcomes was worth it!
