I was expecting to see lots of images featuring smoke, whether from a smoke machine or signal flares, and I wasn't wrong. However, choosing the best one was difficult. I decided to give this one the highest ranking because all the other features come together perfectly. This photograph has an excellent sense of movement and atmosphere. The swirling white and blue smoke is captivating and frames the subject nicely, while the lantern and the red-ish light behind it provide an attractive warm colour contrast that immediately draws the eye. The slight smirk on the lady's face and her eye contact are also especially captivating. Fantastic job!

I really like the fact that there are two subjects, and neither of them is in the centre. They just work so well together, and it wouldn't be as effective if it was just one person.

Technically it is also a fantastic photograph, I wouldn't change a thing.

Because I used this photograph as the cover image, I have chosen not to include it in the top 10 or as a winning image. I felt it would have an unfair advantage over the others. But it is clearly an absolutely fantastic photograph.

Actually, I would say it is an absolute treasure of visual storytelling. The vintage setting, props, the outfit, warm colour palette, vintage meets modern,... everything comes together to create a rich, immersive atmosphere in the best possible way.

The subject’s confident posture adds strength and character, while the environment invites the viewer to explore all the details.
