Brief

The 'Decisive moment' in photography is that one moment of magic where the photographer captures a scene at just the right time. Sometimes it's a happy accident, but others the photographer is sensitive enough to their environment to see it unfurling and speedily react. Henri Cartier Bresson was a master at this, as well as a number of the other great photographers. Let's see if you can capture a transitory moment with equal success. Good luck!

The winner of the expert-judged category and the winner of the crowd-vote will receive a stunning Sigma dp2 Quattro camera worth £749.00 (GBP).

Prize details

The winner of the expert-judged category and the winner of the crowd-vote will receive a stunning Sigma dp2 Quattro camera worth £749.00 (GBP).

The SIGMA dp2 Quattro incorporates a Foveon X3 sensor which, unlike conventional sensors, is made up of three layers to capture 100% of the colour. The ultimate result is high-definition, 39 mega-pixel equivalent, 3D-like photographs with outstandingly rich colour detail.

The camera features a new TRUE III image processing engine, developed especially for the new-generation Foveon X3 Quattro direct image sensor. Offering 14-bit processing, it is the ideal engine for turning the sensor's rich and complex image data into finished photographs.

The dp2 Quattro incorporates a 30mm F2.8 (equivalent to a 45mm lens on a 35mm SLR) lens which boasts glass mould aspherical and high refractive index glass elements. RAW and JPEG image capture is possible and data can easily be adjusted using SIGMA Photo Pro software.

How it works

Every photo submitted will be available for the crowd to rate once the submissions period has ended. You can see all the images uploaded to a contest, but will need to rate them to see how they’re ranked once the rating period begins.

Some contests on Photocrowd also have a judge. After the submission period closes the judge chooses their favourite images and writes some image reviews. The crowd and judge results will be announced on the same day.
