This is a great wintery top-down image. I love the textural, monochrome feel of it, and the details of the trees picked out with snow. The curve of the road is very well placed and the car adds a point of interest.

This is a great top-down abstract shot of a wetland area. I love the shapes and textures. The small bridges or walkways add some detail and an idea of scale and what looks like mist of the water is an atmospheric cherry on the cake.

I love the peaceful atmosphere in this image. The colours are stunning and the low mist of the water gives it an otherworldly feel. Compositionally it's great, with the line of windmills leading the eye into the image and the exposure is spot-on, maintaining shadow detail without blowing out the bright areas in the sky.

This is a beautifully executed shot of a well-known landmark. The morning light is fabulous, picking out the fine details of the buildings. This is set against a wonderful colours in the sky and the textures of the sand flats in the background. The centred composition is simple, but works well to bring the various elements together.

This image stands out because it is very different from all the other entries! It shows a gruesome scene, but one that plays out every day in nature. I love the eye contact from the lioness and even the drone shadow adds to the story.

A great, dynamic action shot. The power of the wave is clearly seen from this lofty angle and the surfer adds a focal point and a splash of colour against the dark water. Great sense of adventure, and epic textures in the foam.

A very nice shot of a cool-looking bridge. The colours are great, the reflections on the water, and I like the human figures on the path in the bottom left. Personally I might be tempted to try a similar composition at blue hour, before its completely dark, which might avoid quite so much black in the image and possibly add a touch of colour in the sky. But a great effort.

Beautiful top-down abstract textures in the submerged sandbar, blending into a lovely shade of blue. The moored vintage boat adds a focal point and an idea of scale. I also love the fact that the yellow in the buoy goes with the yellow shades in the sand and the boat is mainly blue, giving the image a lovely pallette. Simple but effective.

Amazing top-down abstract shot. I love the colours and textures- it looks like a painting. Cool range of colours in the salt ponds- it's hard to judge the scale but I think I can see some human footprints. The drainage channels add a great diagonal composition element.

A classic landscape composition, but from the air. For me this photograph is all about the wonderful colours and textures. The meanders of the tree-lined river, the dusting of snow both in the foreground and the distant hills- all the elements come together beautifully.

For me, what really makes this image stand out is the amazing texture of the fishing net. The gauzy waves call to mind smoke or billowing fluids. The workers at the centre really pop out thanks to their contrasting colours and there is even a little bit of motion blur on the hands as they work away on this huge task.

An impressive cityscape photographed at the optimum moment, while the colours and textures in the sky are at their peak and the city lights are beginning to show. The curve of the road is a great compositional element, leading the eye towards the tower which makes for a great focal point.

An amazing top-down image of fishing boats at work. The net forms a beautful abstract shape that draws the eye to the fishing boat, where you can make out the fishermen at work. The colours are great set amid the blackness of the sea. Nicely processed too.

This is a stunning image, full of atmosphere and intrigue. The mist in the valleys and autumn colours add to a perfect composition, with the road along the ridge leading the eye to the main subject. The image has been beautifully processed. It makes me want to be there!

A great aerial wildlife shot. The trails of the flamingoes stirring up the mud lead the eye nicely to the birds themselves. There's plenty of action in the shot and the birds stand out nicely against the water. The feeding trails in the mud also add a nice textural element.
