I love this image on several levels. As a purely abstract composition it has subtlety and some lovely colours. When you look closer and work out what it is, it is even more fascinating. The darkness of the water lends different shades of green to the net, and the red edge of the boat picks it out nicely in the centre of the frame. An unusual and fascinating image, captured and processed very nicely.

Drones now allow photographers to access a whole new dimension with relative ease. The possibilities are almost endless, but as with so much of photography, it’s not all about the equipment; original ideas and mastery of the technical aspects are crucial in achieving a beautiful result. We will be looking for imagination, creativity and great composition in the entries. Whether it’s stunning golden-hour light on a landscape or a particularly pleasing abstract top-down shot, the winning image will need to show that little something extra that sets it apart from the rest. Entries that clearly flout local drone laws or show unsafe or reckless flying will not be considered unless it can be shown that a special exception or permission was granted.

I love the symmetry of this image, and the simple colour pattern. It's very abstract and almost doesn't look real. The single car going round the roundabout is nicely placed in the frame. Despite a relatively slow shutter speed, the image is sharp and it have been nicely exposed. By keeping to a fairly low ISO value the photographer has minimised the noise. A well-thought out and beautifully executed image.

I love this abstract composition of an iceberg, the shapes and colours are really interesting. My only suggestion would be perhaps a little more work in post- maybe a touch more clarity, dehaze and saturation, plus a light vignette to darken the corners further, would really make this image pop. Even better if there were any passing seabirds around, it might add more of a sense of scale. But overall a great image.

I really like the composition and subject matter in this image. I have taken a few similar ones myself. The only comment I would make is that it might pop a little more in better light, some nice golden hour morning or evening light, highlighting the textures and casting some shadows would be lovely, but overall a great effort.

I love the colours in this image. The boats make really interesting subject matter. I think it might work even better as a top down image, giving it a more abstract look. You would have plenty of different framing opportunities on a top-down, and experimenting with different altitudes. The posted image also seems to be a very low resolution copy.

This is a fantastic top-down abstract image. Although the scene is a fairly mundane one, the photographer has made it into art. I love the dotted texture of the tarmac, the arrows and road markings and the green of the trees and foliage. The shadows of the two human figures at the centre and the trees really add to the composition.

I love this image, what an amazing place. It's a great abstract shot and I love the colours and textures. My only bit of constructive criticism would be that I might have cropped it, or framed it slightly differently. If you lose the right 1/4 to 1/3 of the image, so there is no sea visible on the right, and the lagoon is central in a square crop, it might work even better. Or alternatively try to include the whole island. If you can''t go higher you can take 5 or 6 shots and stitch them together in post.
