Focusing on the ecological as well as the aesthetic gave this work a strong, bold feel. It reminded us of Edward Burtynsky's work. You can get lost in the minutiae of details within the picture as well as the bold yellow tones in a graphic way, also. We felt this was the strongest one of the images submitted in this series.

What a wonderful, enigmatic, tangled scene. The misty appearance of the setting hasn't been overdone. We loved the interlocking undergrowth showing the chaos of nature as it tangles and overlaps plants, shrubs and trees all coexisting harmoniously. The palette is also subtle, which heightens the ambience of the image.
The movement captured in this with a flash on the brush works beautifully. We have all seen this technique, which is often overdone, or overworked in post production. We felt that the immediacy of this really worked and was all the better for being in black and white, to show the form and theatre of the environment.

This striking image stood out for both its surreal nature and absolute fulfilment of the brief.; the sculptural contrast of the decomposing camel skull against the sand merging into the environment and vice versa. The composition is as direct as the subject, and we really liked the close up crop, which adds to the drama of the image.
