There were so many wonderful firework images set over a city scene but this one to me stood out as the best one.
Why? It is beautifully balanced with the inclusion of the bridge all lit up in purple helping to fill the left hand side of the frame with interest. The exposure of the fireworks is perfect, not too dark, and not too bright, just spot on.
I also appreciate that the buildings are perfectly vertical and straight and that shows me that the photographer took time to set up the composition carefully and with due diligence.
Overall, a wonderful image. Congratulations to the photographer and thanks for entering the competition.

A simple composition that caught my attention. I am a fan of negative space, and this image has it in abundance however the gorgeous texture and detail in the sky helps to give the image interest.
The exposure of the fireworks and the castle is excellent and the fact that I can see detail in the shadows also helps to keep my attention as my eyes scan the image in more detail.
An excellent image. Congratulations to the photographer on their third placing.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked below 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** Fireworks can make for amazing photography, and are a great way to use shutter speed creatively. Done well, images of fireworks convey the excitement and wonder of the fireworks display, whether it’s a small box that you let off in your own backyard, or a huge public display that takes your breath away.
