Food Immersed in Liquid (in colour)

March 2021

This was liquid at its most attractive. Not only is it a necessary part of the dish but you are able to see the various ways it is incorporated into it. It covers the base of the plate. The dessert is both immersed and glazed with it. And lastly the topping that sits on top is covered in liquid. The entire dish is harmonious in color, with the liquid clearly tying everything together. Congratulations Raed!

This is my #1 because of the uniqueness of how the liquid informs the food instead of the food informing the liquid. The liquid is hugging the cherries in such a way that it gives the impression that one can be without the other. The colors "pop" and are a great contrast to the presence of the liquid. Definitely portray that the liquid being a thickly coated substance on the cherries. Congratulations Wayne on this image and your other one making my top 10!

Refreshing Indeed! If you know these foods already you can easily gather some of what you get just by looking at the image. Acidity from the lemon and naturalness from the herb and vegetables. The surrounding area was a great choice to add to the overall feeling of freshness. The variation between the yellow and the green is very balanced. The presentation of the sliced lemon and the stacked cucumbers is identical to the way they are shown in the liquid. Great job...congratulations Ange for being in my top 10!

This almost reads to me like a musical of jumping fruit. Each piece is taking its turn for immersion in the liquid and afterward rest at the of the foot of the glasses. I like the "mix" present in every element. The foods are different, there shapes are different, the slice used are different, the splash from the three glasses are different. Its a total play back and forth between the food and the liquid. Congratulations FotoPhantasia for being 2nd in my top 10!

This was so attractive in presentation, it won me over. What I love most is that this is not a prepared dish in that it is for someone to eat. It uses the food needed for it in such a way that it is a "prepared dish" with a twist to it. The ingredients are in there entirety outside and around the bowl but "cut" within the bowl reveal there interiors. The thick white liquid in the bowl does a great contrast with the darkness outside of the bowl. Congratulations David for being in my top 10!

This image made me wish that it was being prepared just for me. Everything about how this is done is exciting. Well done considering it contains just three thing; fruit, liquid and a glass. There is the fruit that is a rich red. The transparency of the glass and the splash of the liquid distribute the "red" to other parts of the glass. The lighting also plays a tremendous roll. It creates sparkling glow through out the glass, further highlighting the liquid and the fruit. Outstanding...congratulations Pete on being 3rd in my top 10!

I would like to see your colour photos of food immersed in liquid. Examples of food immersed in liquid could be noodles in soup, olives in oil, a cocktail cherry in a cocktail, a slice of orange in a bowl of punch or pickled onions in vinegar. The food can be in any type of container. I should be able to look directly at the picture and see whatever the dish has been made up of. Please only colour photos. I hope you enjoy the contest.
