Forms in nature is a very open brief, although we did see many closeup abstract shots. This image caught our eye for its expansive feel and the way in which the lack of scale makes the undulating terrain seems like flowing material. Add in superb composition and colour contrast and you have a winning image! Well spotted and even better executed.

We were instantly drawn to the unusual perspective of this shot and the opposing suggested directions of the wave and figure. The composition beautifully illustrates the interaction of the ocean and land while the arching footprints add an intriguing converging element. A great demonstration of the power of nature and our place in it. Well done.
If you planned to enter a landscape into this round it had to be clear which patterns and forms were the intended focus. In this image that is exactly what the photographer has achieved. Beautiful golden light accentuates the folds of the rock, suggesting both sharp and soft textures., while setting up a gorgeous colour contrast with the cool sky. This makes us want to grab a camera an visit ourselves! Well done.

Abstract yet familiar, this image makes fantastic use of light and shadow to create a suggestion of natural forms. The monochrome rendering allows us to concentrate on the shapes, without the distraction of colour, while the backlighting pulls the eye towards the centre of the frame. A simple yet effective study which perfectly meets the brief of this round.
