This competition was full of surprises for me as I had an idea of the sort of image I was looking for yet all that went out of the window when I started judging. A huge variety of great shots have made my decisions very difficult. This picture just pulled on my heart strings as I am a succour for a great dog shot showing intelligent expression with lighting that is low and warming. Cute wins out this time!

This contest is for those of you who can still get on their knees and view the world from this unique height perspective! I am looking for images that include the floor or ground as an important part of the composition. Photos can be indoor or outside, in colour or black and white.

Without the low perspective this scene would look messy and disorganised. Movement amongst calm forms a contrast in the same way that the low angle contrasts with the converging verticals. Likewise the abstract wall art is enhanced by the silver balls and the entire elements create this great abstract photograph.

Meet the judge

In all aspects this shot seems wrong. Uneven horizon, missing body parts, lens distortion and converging verticals. However, I was drawn to this one like a magnet from the start. The explosion of the rule book works very well indeed putting a story in the eyes of the viewer of this horse jumping event, helped in its entirety by the low perspective. Great fun!
